Professor (Dr.) Dipak Kumar Nag has been working as Professor & Head of the Department of Vitreo-Retina, National Institute of Ophthalmology & Hospital, Dhaka, Bangladesh. He is the first Professor of Vitreo-Retina in Bangladesh. He graduated with medical degree (MBBS) from Mymensingh Medical College under the University of Dhaka in 1989. He did fellowship in Clinical Ophthalmology (FCPS, 2004) from the Bangladesh College of Physicians & Surgeons and fellowship in Retina & Vitreous from the Retina Foundation (2010), Ahmadabad, India. He was also hands-off observer fellow in Vitreo-retina at the LVPEI, Hyderabad, and SNEC, Singapore. He has earned Masters in preventive ophthalmology (MSc, CEH) from the International Center for Eye Health, UK (1997) and Masters in Medical research (MSc, Epidemiology, 1999) from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, UK. 

Apart from working on the retinal diseases, he is involved as a focal person in diabetic retinopathy screening and Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) screening programs run by the National Institute. Professor Nag is also the focal person of Vitreo-Retina subspecialty at the Bangladesh College of Physicians & Surgeons and mentor of Vitreo-retina fellowship program, National Institute of Ophthalmology & Hospital.

Professor Nag has achieved various scholarships and awards for his education, performance and activities, such as Commonwealth award, UK (1996), Task Force Sight and Life award, Switzerland (1997), Lt-Col Henry Kirkpatrick Scholarship, UK (1998), Professor MA Matin Gold Medal, Bangladesh (OSB, 2011),  Association of Community Ophthalmologists of India Award (ACOIN, 2015) , Prof. Syedur Rahman award, Bangladesh (BCOS, 2016), Alim Memorial Award (BCOS, 2019) and Distinguished Service Award (APAO 2019).   
   
Professor Nag has nearly half a hundred research papers on retinal diseases which he presented in various national and international conferences. He was one of the editor of the Bangladesh Ophthalmic Journal (BOJ), and currently chief editor of the Journal of Bangladesh Academy of Ophthalmology and executive editor of the Journal of the National Institute of Ophthalmology. He is an external reviewer of Indian Journal of Ophthalmology (IJO) and Journal of Bangladesh College of Physicians & Surgeons. He is a contributing author of  ‘OSPE Book Review (Ophthalmology)’ chapter : OSPE on vitreo-retina and Uveal tissue by professor Anisur Rahman, Dhaka. 2016. He has written a book on Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP), Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP): an emerging epidemic.

Professor Nag is currently the  Chairman of the scientific sub-committee of Ophthalmological Society of Bangladesh (OSB) and immediate past Honorary General Secretary of Bangladesh Academy of Ophthalmology (BAO). He was the founder Scientific Secretary of Bangladesh Community Ophthalmological Society (BCOS), former Member Secretary of Bangladesh Academy of Ophthalmology (BAO), ex-Chairman of the scientific sub-committee of Bangladesh Uvea Society (BUS), ex-member of the Scientific sub-committee of the Ophthalmological Society of Bangladesh, former EC member of the Ophthalmological Society of Bangladesh (OSB) and former Member Secretary of the Course & Curriculum sub-committee of OSB. Professor Nag is a life member of All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS), Bangladesh Vireo-Retina Society (BVRS), Bangladesh Community Ophthalmological Society (BCOS), Bangladesh Uvea Society (BUS), Faculty member, Bangladesh College of Physicians & Surgeons (BCPS), Member of Academic committee of the National Institute of Ophthalmology and Hospital, Dhaka, Member of Ethical Review Committee (ERC) for Study, Research, Thesis and Dissertation at the National Institute of Ophthalmology and Hospital, Dhaka.
